One of the biggest selling points with Cryptocurrency and blockchain technologies is security. Having a decentralized structure creates resistance to attack and fraud. Part of this security is because of Transaction hashing, which is a long string of letters and numbers generated when a transaction is initiated, which is difficult to hack.
However, quantum computing may catch up with blockchain technologies. Google recently announced Willow, which is a quantum chip which works faster and with fewer errors. In theory, the combination of this speed and accuracy may allow hackers to break the code on cryptocurrency transactions and introduce fraud into the system. This won't happen overnight though as Willow is 10 or more years away from practical use for breaking cryptographic transactions.
Future Wonder has both Security and Blockchain products and we will be working to understand how the two are related to serve your blockchain needs better!
For teams building with crypto today, the practical takeaway is preparation rather than panic. Good security hygiene still matters most: strong key management, minimizing hot-wallet exposure, and auditing the systems around signing and custody. Longer term, the industry is actively working toward post-quantum cryptography, which is designed to stay secure even as computing capabilities evolve.
If you’re evaluating crypto infrastructure or security posture for your business, Future Wonder can help you assess risk, improve controls, and build systems that are easier to maintain safely over time. Reach out to talk through your use case.
